Community groups in the Conisbrough and Denaby area have been invited to apply for match funding from a new Government fund.
A total of more than ££60,000 is available from the Community Development Foundation in the Conisbrough and Denaby areas.
It is part of the £30 million Neighbourhood Matched Fund, which is targeted at deprived communities and will run for the next four years.
The initiative will fund both new and existing community groups.
Former Conisbrough and Denaby Councillor, Tony Sellars, said: “This is a new scheme of funding for local groups that qualify, giving amounts of of cash from £250-£2,500.
“In order to qualify the groups must be working towards the ward’s priorities and can use their own resources to match the amount.
“If groups have donations in cash or in kind including free venue hire, they may be able to use this as a match for the funding.
“It also allows groups to claim volunters time as a match at the rate of £11.09 per hour”.
