A TELEVISION and Film lecturer has scooped a staff award.

Dean Ayers, 25, has become the third Doncaster College staff member to receive the Professional Recognition Award for his dedication to teaching film and television studies.

The award is for the summer term with nominees picking Mr Ayers for his “infectiously enthusiastic attitude” and his “knowledge, expertise and personal interests” which motivate both students and his colleagues.

One of Mr Ayers’ biggest achievements so far is the work in helping three of his students produce a video with the Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Network Rail to raise awareness of skin cancer.

He said: “I think it is nice to be recognised for being good at something and to know my hard work is appreciated.”

The award scheme was launched at the back of 2011 to recognise the contribution staff make towards the college.

It is awarded three times a year and staff have to be nominated by at least five colleague to be in with a chance of winning it.
