FINAL preparations are underway for the launch of Christmas in Epworth.

The festive season in the town officially gets underway today with a Victorian Christmas market.

This will be followed by the big switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights, and the timely arrival of Father Christmas himself.

The fun starts at noon in the Imperial Hall in Chapel Street with the market. Sale items at the traditional event will include home-made preserves, sweets, books and a range of other seasonal goods.

And those who try their luck on the tombola or in the raffle could win themselves a Christmas hamper stuffed with delights to take home with them.

Mulled wine and mince pies will be served from 4pm to warm people up before they leave the warmth of the Imperial Hall to witness the lighting up ceremony in Market Place.

Santa’s grand arrival and the big illumination is schedules for 6.30pm.

The popular family event is organised by members of St Andrew’s Parish Church, Epworth.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
