Cask Corner will be the venue for the solo concert on August 6 as part of the annual musical extravaganza which will feature more than 100 acts across 13 venues across the course of two days.

But rather than the Coldplay frontman famed for hits such as Yellow, Clocks and Paradise, the Cleveland Street watering hole will actually be playing host to his namesake, Batley based bluesman Chris Martin, lead singer of The Rusty Nails and who will be bringing his guitar to the stage between 4.45 and 5.45pm.

The two day spectacular from August 5-6 is dedicated to the town's late tourism manager Colin Joy who died earlier this year.

This year the music will be on offer at 13 venues - Cask Corner, Cast, Diamond Live Lounge, The Hall Cross, The Gate House, Mason's Arms, Merchant Bar, The Red Lion, Social, Taste, Vintage, Woolpack Live and The Yorkshire Pie House.

A spokesman said: "Each venue has a different genre of music from blues to metal, indie to reggae. There is something for everyone and most venues are free of charge too.

"This event always brings people flooding to Doncaster and is a great showcase of all the fantastic musicians the town has as well as showing the camaraderie that the venues have with each other."

Other highlights of this year's line up are American rap star Fatman Scoop, best known for his 2003 number one Be Faithful, who will appear at Diamond Live Lounge on August 6 as well as tributes to Noel Gallagher, Rage Against The Machine and The Jam.
