Now is the perfect opportunity to nominate your unsung heroes as today we launch the Doncaster Free Press Community Awards.
The deadline for entries is Sunday, April 24, and this is your opportunity to nominate across a wide variety of categories to honour the cream of the crop.
We’ve amalgamated our popular sports, education and Superkids awards into one ceremony with awards presented on Thursday, May 19 at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, 6pm to 9.30pm - but we need you to help us find people who deserve our coveted prizes.
Guests will receive a two-course meal which will be followed by the awards ceremony. Our shortlisted finalists will be offered two complimentary tickets, with tickets going on general sale for £18.
Maybe you know someone who has battled against the odds, pulled off some stunning sporting success or helped oversee transformation in the community they live in.
Categories are: Triumph Over Adversity, Supporting The Family Award, The Hannah Brown Young Citizen Award, Educational Progress Award, Best Headteacher, The Healthy Eating Initiative Award; Best Sports Team, Disabled Sport Personality of the Year, Professional Team of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Amateur Sports Club of the Year, Outstanding Sporting Achievement, Best Coach/Manager and Sporting Lifetime Achievement and Teacher of the Year, plus one more category to be confirmed.
Group editor, Phil Bramley, said: “Our community awards are a chance to celebrate the true unsung heroes who are at the heart of our community.
The dedicated, caring and courageous people who give so much to help others and who are an inspiration to us all. If you know someone who deserves some special recognition, please nominate them for an award.”
Sponsors confirmed so far are Doncaster Refurnish, St Leger Homes, Atherton Godfrey, Polypipe and Wise Owl PR.
