Cannabis seized and man arrested during police raids in Doncaster village

A man has been arrested and a significant amount of cannabis has been seized, following a series of raids on properties in a Doncaster village.

The operation took place in Edlington on Friday, when officers from Doncaster’s Local Policing Unit and the Force Crime Unit executed a series of warrants in Staveley Street, Princes Crescent, Markham Road, Diamond Jubilee Way and Victoria Road.

At a property in Princes Crescent, a quantity of cannabis was seized and a 22-year-old man was given a caution.

At a property in Markham Road, cannabis was recovered and a 24-year-old man received a cannabis warning.

A large quantity of cannabis and cash was seized from a property in Victoria Road.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Acting Detective Sergeant Darren McConnell from the Force Crime Unit said: “This operation was the result of weeks of planning and organisation and a considerable amount of cannabis has now been taken off the streets.

“We know drugs and drug-related criminality have a massive impact on our local communities and we hope the residents of Edlington are reassured by the action we have taken.

“This is not the last operation of this kind by any means and our work to tackle crime in Doncaster will continue.”
