A man has been arrested after a “substantial number” of cannabis plants were seized in a raid at a suspected Bawtry drugs farm.
Officers swooped on the premises in Bawtry Market Place yesterday following a tip-off.
It is understood the raid focused on premises at the rear of a Chinese takeaway and the town’s branch of the Nat West bank in the market place. An eyewitness said that a number of police vans had been at the scene for much of the day and that they had seen officers carrying items from the building.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said that a substantial number of cannabis plants were recovered at the address.
A 55-year-old man from Nottinghamshire has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis production and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
The investigation is continuing.
