VIDEO: Cyber Monday shopping disrupted by bank crash

An IT glitch left Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest customers unable to use their debit or credit cards on the busiest online shopping day of the year.

The embarrassing failure, which left some unable to pay after filling up with petrol or to settle restaurant bills, and in other cases forced them to abandon full shopping trolleys, was the latest in a string of system meltdowns for the group. In a series of tweets today, RBS - which owns NatWest as well as Ulster Bank - said sorry to customers.
