A new non-executive director has joined the clan at family business Nouveau Fabrics.
Chartered accountant Denis Kaye will help brother and sister team Nigel Thompson and Katherine Beaumont to develop the company in a market which has changed enormously over the last 20 years.
Denis said: “It is great to be involved with a business that produces such lovely products for a very discerning and difficult market. It’s even better to find that the fabrics are UK sourced. I am looking forward to working with Nigel and Katherine to achieve their business aspirations.”
Nouveau Fabrics, a designer and supplier of fabrics and wallpapers, was set up by the Thompson family in 1972. The family started in the furnishing fabric business in 1939 when it opened Down Quilt House. This well-known shop was in Doncaster town centre until 1997 and more recently the name has been revived for the company’s new retail outlet at the Queens Road Design Centre.
Denis was introduced to Nouveau Fabrics by Amplifi Governance UK, which specialises in providing non-executives and board advice to SMEs, particularly family businesses.
