The latest iPhone does not appear to be a major attraction for Doncaster shoppers.

Doncaster’s two Phones4U branches opened at 8am today to sell the latest mobile but there were few takers.

There were no queues waiting for staff to open and the Frenchgate Centre branch had sold only three by 8.30am, with just one sold at the Clock Corner store.

Chris Ware, manager of the Frenchgate branch, said several customers had pre-ordered the device and are collecting them later today.

“People who left deposits will be coming in at a time convenient time to them.”

Shaine Varley, manager of the High Street shop, said there had not been as much hype as previous iPhone launches.

Their first customer, Sean Kessell, from Balby, said: “I get an update every six months and I just wanted to be here early to get it.”
