New influx of jobs with Kiddicare

UP to 70 new jobs will be created at a baby products’ flagship store, when it opens soon at the Parkgate retail park at Rotherham.

Kiddicare announced it would be coming to Parkgate in February this year. It will open in October in time for the first Christmas shoppers.

The company will be opening 10 new UK stores and creating up to 700 vacancies across the country. The first of its new outlets will begin trading by late summer. was acquired by Morrisons last year and took over the leases of former Best Buy stores from Carphone Warehouse.

Bosses are set to invest about £15 million on conversion of the stores, and Parkgate management hope to attract a whole new clientele with the advent of the select store, that will be the only one within a wide radius.

Parkgate manager Denis Copeland said that the Kiddicare store will be good news for local employment, and for the retail park in general as it is a unique enterprise offering a brand new way of shopping to both local and incoming customers.

The award-winning retailer has a multi-channel model and offers purchasing by app, kiosks and online, promising next day deliveries that are free of charge within hourly time slots.

Once open, all of the stores will be rated on the customer service experience delivered, with the results displayed to shoppers.

Scott Weavers-Wright, chief executive of Kiddicare, said: “These 10 flagship stores will put Kiddicare within easy driving distance of nearly a third of the UK population.

“As well as being fantastic destination superstores for families across the country, they are the ideal platform for to lead the baby market by giving a true multi-channel experience.”

Electronics retailer Best Buy, closed their 45,000 sq ft store at Parkgate at the start of the year after opening in June last year.
