An MP urged shoppers to spread some festive cheer to the borough’s small businesses and set an example by visiting one of her local shops.
Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton popped into Marie and Brian Townsend’s shop in Holyrood Road, Town Moor, during Small Business Saturday.
Miss Winterton said: “There are key hubs of small business in Doncaster and it’s important to recognise the value they bring to our economy.
“Small businesses offer a livelihood to so many people, and that’s why it’s essential for any Government to support the work of small businesses. We need to do more to celebrate entrepreneurs and support our small businesses.”
Don Valley MP Caroline Flint also supported Small Business Saturday when she attended a florists in her constituency.
Ms Flint dropped in at Lockwoods in Tickhill to talk to staff before she also popped in at Carlson and Davies for coffee and chocolates.
