The Old Village post office in Stainforth is moving to a new location next month and will be open for longer.

From Thursday, February 20, it will be relocated two doors away to the McColls shop in Thorne Road, Stainforth, with opening hours extended by more than 70 hours a week.

The move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments. Old Village PO will open as a new ‘local’ style open-plan branch and opening hours at the new location will be Monday to Sunday, 7am to 11pm.

The current branch will close Wednesday, February 19 at 12.30pm and the new-look Post Office will open the next day at 1pm. Nearby branches in Church Road, Stainforth, and Hatfield, will be happy to look after the needs of customers during the brief period of closure.

Post Office Regional Network Manager Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Doncaster and we are confident that this new modern post office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
