A DISABLED Denaby businessman who was attacked in his shop and threatened with being set on fire by a robber has been nominated for a top business award.

Shane Bratby, founder and managing director of has been announced as one of the Future 100 Young Social Entrepreneurs of the Year on Social Enterprise Day during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2011.

Shane was doused in petrol and threatened with a cigarette lighter by the robber who stole just £60, at his Conisbrough shop last December.

Brave Shane continued with his business online to sell bath rooms, cars, mobility scooters, stairlifts, kitchens and even holidays, on his website,

Shane said: “Being a wheelchair user myself gives me an insight of my customers expectations”.

The Future 100 Awards recognises the success of young entrepreneurs aged 18-35 who demonstrate entrepreneurial flair and innovation in progressing a responsible business venture. They aim to showcase businesses that offer innovative and sustainable solutions to social problems.
