BUS operator Stagecoach Yorkshire will run a near-normal level of service in Barnsley, Rotherham and the Dearne Valley during planned strike action by the Unite trade union in the New Year.

The union has announced it will resume strike action over pay on January 4 and January 16.

Stagecoach will run services between 7am and 6pm on those days, intending to again draft in more than 100 managers and supervisors from across the company.

There were six days of strike action by drivers during November and December.

A special one pound flat single fare for adults will once again apply on strike dates. Megarider tickets, child and pensioners free passes will be accepted as normal.

All buses operated by Stagecoach East Midlands in south Rotherham and Doncaster will run as normal and are unaffected by the industrial action.

A full list of services which will operate will be available on Stagecoach’s website www.stagecoachbus.com/yorkshire or by calling traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
