THE firm behind the construction of Doncaster Council’s new £20 million officers have been handed an award for its community relations.
Wates Construction has been given the honour under the Considerate Constructors Scheme for what was described as outstanding neighbourhood engagement.
Events run by the firm to keep residents informed have included open evenings and it has also printed newsletters. Construction of the offices started last year and is due to be completed in 2013.
St John’s Hospice in Balby has received a £500 donation from Coca Cola, after the drinks firm’s staff saved 20,000 miles worth of carbon emissions by car-sharing. Coca Cola bosses challenged staff to save carbon emissions by car sharing, offering the winning team a chance to nominate a charity for a cash donation.
BAWTRY Town Council has accepted a quote to carry out work to repair the public seat at the town council owned cemetery, off Station Road. Meanwhile, the council has reported a noisy manhole cover on Station Road and anovergrown hedge on Doncaster Road.
DONCASTER’S civic mayor, Coun Eva Hughes, will be meeting members of the Astronomical Society this evening at a reception for the organisation at Mansion House.
