A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital today after he was shot in Wath-upon-Dearne.
South Yorkshire Police attended the scene on Doncaster Road at 8.40pm last night, Thursday, following several calls to emergency services that there had been a shooting.
Officers discovered a 40-year-old man with a life threatening gunshot wound.
He was rushed to hospital, where he remains today.
The crime scene was cordoned off and armed police officers were patrolling the area this morning. An investigation has been launched.
A police spokesman said: “There is no threat to the wider public.
“Officers were called to a house on Doncaster Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, at 8.40pm following several calls to the ambulance service reporting a man with a gunshot wound.
“A 40-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
“Armed and uniformed police officers are on the scene and enquiries are ongoing.”
