UNISON and UCU members at Doncaster College are set to go on strike after an overwhelming vote for industrial action by union members. The one day action, which will take place on Wednesday following a 0 per cent pay offer from the Association of Colleges following negotiations with the trade unions. A UNISON spokesman said “Colleges were given the opportunity to submit improved local pay offers and no such satisfactory offer was received from Doncaster College.” Christine Dear, UNISON Steward at the College added: “UNISON members at the college have had below inflation pay settlements for the last six years and so each year our real wages continue to fall. With the latest 0% offer, enough is enough. Our members will be taking strike action to bring the college back to the table with a proper pay offer, rather than this unacceptable real terms cut.”
