Biking piemen have big heart

A SPONSORED bike ride by staff and friends from the Topping Pie Company was successful in raising more than £2,000 for the Bawtry branch of the British Heart Foundation.

Branch chairman Derek Spence has thanked the company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has chosen the BHF as their charity of the year.

Road block

A STRETCH of Kirby Street in Mexborough more than 100yds in length is the subject of a Higways Act application to be stopped up to allow a development of 39 dwellings, including some affordable housing, to go ahead on a two-acre site.

Nature fun

Community rangers are holding a fun activity session at Warren House Park, Askern, on the theme of Colour and Camouflage on Monday, July 25, from 2pm to 4pm, to learn how nature uses colour. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Church appeal

A COFFEE morning being held at the Tickhill home of choirmaster and organist John Marsden from 10am to 12pm on Wednesday, July 27, will be raising money for the St Mary’s Church Heritage Appeal.

Kitchen fire

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with the aftermath of a kitchen pan fire at a property on Harrogate Drive, Denaby Main. The flames were already out when fire crews arrived.

Mayor’s visit

Civic Mayor Eva Hughes has been invited to take lunch in the Alzheimer’s Cafe at the Ivanhoe Centre in Conisbrough when she visits on Tuesday.
