A VICTORIAN Christmas market will usher in the festive season in Epworth next Friday, along with the big switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights, and the timely arrival of Father Christmas himself.

Mulled wine and mince pies will be served from 4pm to warm people up before they leave the warmth of the Imperial Hall to witness the lighting up ceremony in Market Place.

The market which will also be serving other refreshments opens it doors at noon.

Sale items at the traditional event will include home-made preserves, sweets, books and a range of other seasonal goods.

And those who try their luck on the tombola or in the raffle could win themselves a Christmas hamper stuffed with delights to take home with them.

The fun starts at noon in the Imperial Hall in Chapel Street, with Santa’s grand arrival and the big illumination at 6.30pm in Market Place.

The popular family event on December 7 is organised by members of St Andrew’s Parish Church, Epworth.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
