Bible Marathon reaches finishing line

DEDICATED worshippers emerged blearry-eyed from a Swinton church - after reading the Bible at the pulpit non-stop for THREE DAYS!

Members of St. John’s Methodist Church gathered to read all 100-plus pages of the new international version of the holy book within 72 hours.

More than 90 people, aged nine to 87, took part, some of which were from other churches who offered to help.

Church Minister Alistair Sharp led a short service on Thursday, September 22, before the Bible Marathon started at 11am.

The marathon continued, with each volunteer reading for 15 minutes, day and night until they finished the book in time for Sunday morning worship at 11am.

The event was organised to mark 400 years since the King James Bible was first published.
