THE Highways Agency is advising drivers that there will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit in place on the M18 near to allow central reservation barrier works to take place.
The scheme involves replacing the steel central reservation barrier with a safer, concrete barrier between Waterton Bridge and junction 5. Work will be completed by the end of June.
In order to reduce disruption to road users two lanes will be maintained during the day. A free recovery service will be in operation along this stretch of the M18. During the work a 50mph speed limit will be in place 24 hours a day.
The M18 was due to be closed between 10pm and 4am between junction four, Armthorpe, and junction five, the M180 turn off last night. The southbound carriageway of the same stretch will be closed overnight tonight.
