An angry mum has started a petition calling for change at a Doncaster primary school after a row with the headteacher and the trust which runs it.
Fiona Flint called a meeting and set up a petition after she was upset by an incident involving her daughter and sexually inappropriate language from a pupil at Kingfisher Primary School, in Wheatley.
She went round the school grounds handing out leaflets to other parents about the issue and said other parents have raised concerns, over issues including how autistic pupils are catered for.
It has prompted her to put together a petition demanding changes in the schools policies and for a new headteacher.
The school says it enjoys excellent relationships with parents.
Ms Flint has also spoken to the police in connection to the incident involving her daughter, and was visited by an officer.
She was furious when she was told about the comments which had been made to her daughter by a fellow pupil. She said she kept her daughter away from the school as a result because she was so upset, a move which saw her threatened with a fine. But she said the child who had made the comments had not been suspended.
She held a meeting with other parents this week, outside St Paul’s Church, on Durham Road, Wheatley. She took her petition along and collected over a dozen signatures.
She admitted not all the parents shared her views.
She said: “We have had a battle with the school over what happened to my daughter. That is why I distributed leaflets round the playground to other parents. I was told it was an isolated incident, but people have come up to me and raised their own concerns.”
The school was rated as good at its most recently published Ofsted report, which was published in 2013.
It converted to an academy earlier this year, and is now run by the Astrea Academy Trust
A spokesperson for the Astrea Academy Trust said: “Kingfisher enjoys excellent relationships with parents and is very open to discussing any issues or concerns with parents. If a parent feels unhappy with how an issue has been dealt with then the appropriate channel is through the formal complaints procedure, which is set out clearly on the website.”
