Alleged burglar injured in crash

A SUSPECTED burglar driving a car believed to be stolen, suffered life-threatening head injuries following a crash last night.

The 39-year-old man was driving a black BMW 323i along Church Way near the junction with Milethorn Way, Wheatley, when the vehicle is understood to have mounted a kerb and then struck railings.

Officers believe the luxury vehicle was taken during a burglary earlier in the evening.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

He is currently being treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary for serious head injuries and a broken arm.

The car was heavily damaged following the collision which happened just after 9pm yesterday off Wheatley Hall Road.

Nobody else was injured in the collision.
