Vue has teamed up with YouTube and the film director Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner) to give the people of Doncaster the chance to raise money for the charity of their choice in the lead up to the screening of groundbreaking new film Life in a Day on 17th June.
The film, from director and Academy Award® winner, Kevin Macdonald and executive producer Ridley Scott, started with an international appeal from the two for everyday people to upload a short video of their day on 24th July 2010. The world responded with more than 80,000 videos making up 4,500 hours of footage. The clips from every corner of the world were then compiled into Life in a Day, a portrait of what it means to be living on earth at the turn of the first decade of the 21st Century.
With help from easyfundraising.org, 25% of each ticket sold on myvue.com will be donated to charity. Upon booking customers will get to choose which charity organization their donation is made to, from biggest international organizations to local school projects.
For those who want to get involved, advice and tools on how the public can join the campaign can be found at www.lifeinadayuk.me.
The site includes a 30 second tool that creates a personalised poster and fully downloadable film footage which can be cut to make bespoke trailer mash-ups.
Mark de Quervain, Marketing Director of Vue says: “Life in a Day is the perfect film for such an innovative and inclusive campaign. Whilst raising a significant amount for charity we’re also giving the public an active role in how a film is promoted, in the same way as they were given a chance to appear in it.”
