The hunt is on to find a new South Yorkshire beauty queen.

After the success of Miss British Empire 2013, in which Bentley’s Charlotte Lister romped to victory, the search is now on for a successor.

And the first title to be decided will be Miss British Empire Rotherham 2014.

Reigning champ Charlotte said: “Our current South Yorkshire queens have had an amazing reign so far.”

She has gone on to have over 20 published pieces, many public appearances and modelling opportunities while Miss British Empire Rotherham Jade Mellows has gone on to be charity ambassador for Sheffield Wednesday Football Club as well as other appearances.

Added Charlotte: “This is a pageant with a twist where girls are marked on their interview, charity work and creativity as well.”

The heat will take place on May 30 at Phoenix Sports Club.

There will be a three course meal served to guests on the night and tickets will be £25 including diner and afterparty.

Miss British Empire is still one of the only events that allows married women and parents to compete and there are no size restrictions. Its open to women aged 18-30 throughout the South Yorkshire Area.

This year’s charity initiative is for Rotherham Dog Rescue.

The winner will receives a place in the finals, crown, sash, modelling contract, formal dress for the finals, a bag of beauty products, an interview in Natural Sparkle magazine and a cash prize.

Among early entrants are Chelsea Wheatley, Demi Marsden, Rebecca Skelly, Chelsea Anderson and Danielle Hanson.
