A new gym is set to open its doors in Doncaster tomorrow as phase one of the Adwick Leisure Complex redevelopment nears completion.

Thanks to a partnership between Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, who run the leisure venue, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and Alliance Leisure, the complex has undergone a major refurbishment in 2014 with more to come in 2015.

Michael Hart, chief executive of Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, said: “We are delighted to be nearing completion of phase one of this ambitious refurbishment.

“Phase one will see the new fully air-conditioned gym opening its doors to the public this week. The gym area has trebled in size and has dedicated changing rooms and three new studios including a dedicated cycling studio. We have also installed state of the art equipment including a Synergy 360 training system.

“Our Free Weights area has also been extended to offer a wider selection of Free Weights.

“We are sure that our current members and new customers will be impressed by the new look centre.

“Early next year we will be completing phase two with the opening of a 10-pin Bowling Alley, Children’s soft play area and new grill and bar.”

The scheme will transform an aged site with the addition of a new and innovative mix of provision that will provide sustainable benefits to the community. This is a major project for Adwick and one which will improve use of the complex.

“It is important that our community based venues offer a variety of activities to meet the needs of the local area. The 10-pin bowling alley and soft play areas will mean that more families will be attracted to use the complex and our current gym members are excited by the plans to improve this area.”

The refurbished Adwick Leisure Complex will offer a significant new attraction for the area and engage new participants to the site both in health and fitness but also families for the new ten-pin bowling, adventure play and swimming.

“We’ve worked closely with the community and our customers throughout this refurbishment and as such we will soon have a new improved entrance foyer to meet their needs.

“The site will benefit from further investment in 2015 when phase three of the project kicks in which includes a refurbishment of the pool area including the changing rooms and also improvements to the car parking and building exterior.”
