A Doncaster pub has re-opened its doors after undergoing a massive refurbishment.
The Marr Lodge, on Barnsley Road is back in action after the pub’s operators, Pub People Company, completed a quarter-of-a-million pounds refurbishment programme.
The project has created 20 jobs with the majority of the positions being filled in the kitchen.
The bar, lounge and restaurant have been redecorated with brand new furnishings, floor coverings and light fittings.
The refurbishment programme continues outside too with the pub being completely redecorated externally and new signs erected.
Improvements have also been made to the outside drinking areas and car park, leaving no stone unturned.
With walls knocked-down and the bar rebuilt, previous customers of The Marr lodge will find the pub almost unrecognisable.
With the pub reopening under the company’s ‘Fresh & Local’ brand, this reflects the emphasis that the pub is placing on the food, with it being freshly prepared on site using the freshest ingredients sourced, wherever possible, from local suppliers.
The pub reopened with the introduction of cask ales, offering a selection of up to four, including their very own “Marr Gold” a pale 3.7% ale brewed by Acorn Brewery in Barnsley.
The full menu can be seen on the pub’s new website www.marrlodge.co.uk as well as an area for customers to register for a brand new fortnightly local newsletter.
There will entertainment on a weekly basis too with a new weekly quiz night headlining the activity. The pub offers a more informal corner of the pub with a single plasma screen showing Sky Sports for the footie fanatics.
