Coppergreen Developments Limited, the upmarket holiday parks group, is celebrating the opening of its extended Woodland Lakes park facility.

The park, which is located in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, is currently undergoing the second phase of its development plans - 12 new timber holiday lodges, new reception, store and parking, thanks to funding support from HSBC.

The new lodges opened to the public for the first time over the Easter bank holiday, during which time, the park welcomed a total of 120 guests, an increase of 30 per cent compared to the same period last year.

HSBC’s commercial banking team in South Yorkshire provided a development loan of half a million pounds to assist in this phase of development, comprising the construction of the 12 new lodges, as well as a reception cabin and increased parking facilities which are now completed. The expansion and refurbishment plans will allow the business to maximise rental income from the park.

Martin Nattrass, HSBC’s area commercial director for South Yorkshire, said: “We have worked with Coppergreen for many years and this latest development is a great example how the business capitalises on growth opportunities. The UK hospitality industry is enjoying a resurgence thanks to a growing trend for the ‘staycation’ and Coppergreen is capitalising on this trend by investing in the business at an opportune time.

The Woodland Lakes holiday park is situated on a converted farmland in North Yorkshire and with this new development phase is now home to 39 lodges for rent.

The park has experienced steady holiday customer growth since its continual development began in 2008 and is also one of the top coarse fishing venues in Europe, surrounded by 13 beautiful lakes and its own tackle shop.

The enlarged park further strengthens the Sheffield based group portfolio of 11 holiday parks across North Yorkshire and the Lake District.

Richard Sidi, director of Coppergreen Developments Limited, said: “This is an exciting time for us.”
