What’s your earliest memory?

Being treated by my granddad to a packet of cheese and onion flavour XL crisps with a glass bottle of pop with a straw at the Station Hotel in Conisbrough every Friday, which was his pay day.

How were your schooldays?

Traumatic and eventful. I don’t think you ever realise the potential you have when you’re a child. However, I went on to do two degrees - in business management and leadership and management.

Childhood holidays?

Going camping to the Thornwick and Sea Farm holiday centre at Flamborough. I can also remember holidaying in a caravan at Humberston.

Things that make you smile?

My wife, children and grandchildren.

Pet hates?

Being late. If I say I’m going to be somewhere at a certain time, I like to be there. I think it’s unprofessional if you’re not - punctuality is key.

First film you remember seeing at the cinema?

Favourite song?

Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross.

Favourite place?

On a beach at Magilligan in Northern Ireland watching the Northern Lights on a clear, warm summer night with a soft wind in your face. Beautiful.

The first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?

I would take a holiday to sort out my thoughts. The dream is to do a horse back cattle drive in the USA. I’d also like to pay off my mortgage and if I’d won enough money, do the same for my children.

What do you do to relax?

Play Xbox and socialise around family and friends.

Any life lessons you’d like to pass on?

Live life with core values: courage, discipline, respect for others, integrity, loyalty and selfless commitment.

Worst job you’ve ever had?

I worked as a hotel manager in an officers’ mess military establishment.

Any ambition yet to fulfil?

None. I am very happy with my achievements and enjoying my life.

What’s got you hooked on TV at the moment?

The Wrong Mans comedy drama on BBC Two.

Ideal dinner companion - past or present?

Dame Helen Mirren. It would be fabulous to go on a dinner date with her. My missus might be a bit jealous but we have a standing joke about it.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Dame Helen Mirren. She is beautiful. I just think she is wonderful and I like the parts she plays in all the films that she has done.

Favourite food?

Steak and chips.

Favourite animal?

Dogs. We used to have two Labradors and they were great companions.

Favourite film?

Schindler’s List.
