One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has met up with a Doncaster Rovers fan - on the other side of the globe.

The Bessacarr boy band star, fresh from his success at the Brit Awards, posted the photo of himself and a young Japanese female fan sporting a Doncaster Rovers replica shirt, to his 18 million followers on Twitter.

He tweeted: “Great shows so far in Japan ! Buzzing to see a fan in a Donny shirt haha !!”

The star is seen sticking his tongue out at the camera while pulling the Viking badge on the fan’s shirt towards the camera.

The photo has been retweeted nearly 100,000 times by Louis fans.

The picture is thought to have been taken following One Direction’s gig at the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo as part of the group’s 2015 world tour.

The band completed the last of five dates in the country last night.

Keen Rovers fan Louis attempted a takeover of Rovers last summer with former chairman John Ryan but the deal collapsed at the last minute.

He is due to take part in a legends game for long-serving midfielder James Coppinger at the Keepmoat Stadium on April 19.
