Number of Doncaster people to test positive for Covid-19 after being vaccinated

Dr David Critchlow, chair of Doncaster NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said that everyone over the age of 18 will be offered a vaccine ‘in the coming weeks’.

As of May 1, 128,000 vaccines have been administered and from that cohort, just 261 people have tested positive for Covid-19 after getting the jab.

Figures also show that 126 people tested positive for Covid-19 three weeks after receiving their dose.

The infection rate for people who have had at least one dose stands at 0.1 per cent – or one in 1,000 people.

Figures show 76 per cent of all eligible adults have had at least one dose while 57 per cent have had two jabs.

As of June 10, Doncaster has 44 cases per 100,000 people which is slightly higher than the England average. All but a few areas of the country are now seeing a rise in cases due to the more transmissible Delta variant first detected in India.

The borough has registered 893 Covid-19 deaths up to May 21.

Dr Critchlow said: ““The vaccination programme in Doncaster has been phenomenally successful – 76 per cent of the adult population have now had their first dose and a further 60 per cent have had their second dose.

“But it’s important we use this time over the next four weeks to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

“The vaccine not only stops death but it also prevents hospital admissions and also prevents the spread from person to person.

“Over the coming weeks, we’ll be inviting everybody over 18 to come forward for their vaccine and everyone over 40 to come forward for their second jab if they have not had it already.”
