Doncaster death toll rises again as national figure nears 20,000

The number of people who have died with coronavirus has risen again in Doncaster, with the total number of fatalities now over 70.

According to the latest NHS figures, there have now been 71 COVID-19 deaths in the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Trust area – an increase of three on yesterday’s figure.

The figures do not include any deaths in care homes or the community.

There have been a total of 326 cases recorded across the Trust’s three hospitals which include Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital and Worksop’s Bassetlaw Hospital.

In England, a further 587 people have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 17,373.

Across the UK, there were 761 further deaths in total, with the total death toll now approaching 20,000.

Earlier this week, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals said 100 coronavirus patients had now been allowed home after undergoing treatment.
