Coronavirus: 15 more deaths recorded across South Yorkshire

A further 15 people who tested positive for coronavirus in South Yorkshire have died, the latest NHS England data shows.

None of the new deaths in hospitals across the county were recorded by Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust, who run hospitals in the Doncaster area. The town’s confirmed death toll remains at 98.

As of 5pm on Saturday, there were 493 confirmed Covid-19 cases in Doncaster.

Across South Yorkshire, six more coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Sheffield, taking its total number of hospital deaths to 215. Ninety deaths have now been recorded in Barnsley after another six people died there. Three more people have also died in Rotherham, taking the number of fatalities there to 107.

Nationally, 346 more people with coronavirus have died in hospitals. It brings the UK’s death toll to at least 28,321. That figure is expected to rise when the latest deaths in care homes and in the community are announced.
