Rovers beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 to make it two wins from two since Butler took the reins.
Goals from Tom Anderson and Omar Bogle put them on their way to the triumph but it needed a dogged defensive effort to hold off the charge of Plymouth after they pulled a goal back through ex-Rovers loanee Niall Ennis.

“It is a good result for us and there were some really good performances out there.
“It got a bit nervy after we conceded the goal but we had chances as well to make it a little bit more comfortable.
“Overall, performance-wise, the players put in an incredible shift on and off the ball, and I’m really pleased.

“Let the catch off and excite me because people want to see entertaining football and hopefully people are getting that with the positive results.”
Anderson’s goal was his first of the season, and also a rare headed goal from a corner for Rovers as a whole. Butler was delighted on both accounts.
“I’m really pleased,” he said. “Paul Gerrard works hard on them.

“I spoke to Jon Taylor before the start of the game and he said Tom was going to score a goal for him. Let’s hope he says the same before every game.
“I’m really pleased for Tom. He leads by example and drags the team up.
“It’s pleasing to score from a set piece. We looked a threat a few times.”
