A key Doncaster road closed after a huge water main burst is set to re-open this weekend, Yorkshire Water chiefs have said.

Barnby Dun Road has been sealed off between Clay Lane and Edenthorpe after the rupture last week , with drivers confronting delays and diversions while the repairs have been carried out.

But Yorkshire Water says the end of the repairs is in sight and the road is set to be open again by Saturday.

"MWS (Yorkshire Water contract partners) are now working to restore the working area and we expect to have the road reopened by Saturday 10 December.

"Thank you once again for bearing with us.”

The road is closed between the roundabout at Sandall Stones Road to Thorn Lane beneath the railway bridge. Diversions via Wheatley Hall Road and Thorne Road are in place.
