One Direction’s Louis has top slot in sight

POP sensation Louis Tomlinson has a number one in his sights!

Louis, whose family live in Bessacarr, and his fellow members of One Direction, previewed their debut single on Scott Mills’ BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show yesterday.

And the boys look set to renew their rivalry with fellow X-Factor contender Cher Lloyd, who rocketed to number 1 with her own debut single Swagger Jagger this week.

The excitement surrounding One Direction’s debut single appears to guarantee its success.

The song, “What Makes You Beautiful”, is a pop confection sure to delight the band’s legions of pre-teen and teenage girl fans.

And it has already helped One Direction break a world record by reaching number two in the i-Tunes charts as a pre-order only, confirming their status as a boy band to be reckoned with.

The boys have confounded their critics by releasing an orginal song, rather than the cover versions that helped them to third place in last year’s X factor behind Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson, pushing Cher Lloyd into fourth place.

The track was written by Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub, the team behind Britney Spears’ first number one hit, Baby One More Time.

“What Makes You Beautiful” is released on September 11 along with the B-side single Na Na Na and their album is expected to follow in the autumn.

Since the buzz surrounding X-Factor, the band has spent months in Los Angeles working on their act and recording.

Louis was given a rapturous reception from fans who watched him have a kick-about during a flying visit home.
