Clare Teal and her Hollywood Orchestra Celebrate Doris Day, Cast, Doncaster
This joyful journey through the musical life of the Hollywood legend is brought to Doncaster by one of the first people to perform in the main space at the theatre since it opened in September 2013.
Singer and BBC Radio 2 presenter Clare has always championed the music of one of the most beloved female singers of the 20th century.
Last year Clare celebrated Doris Day’s 90th birthday on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night.
Born in North Yorkshire, Clare Teal is a celebrated jazz singer and popular radio presenter.
To date she has recorded and released 14 albums. Her voice, encyclopaedic knowledge of jazz, swing and big band music and her warmth and wit have made Clare a sought-after singer and broadcaster.
She presents a two-hour live show on BBC Radio 2, featuring the best of swing and big band music.
With her 16-piece orchestra, led by jazzman Jason Rebello, Clare has created a show that celebrates the whole of Doris’ professional life.
Starting from her early days with Les Brown and his Band of Renown, the show moves on to embrace her massive hit songs from the time when she was the queen of Hollywood and later pop-influenced material.
