Hoping to boost its cash kitty is the Mechanics Institute Library in Epworth which has published a 2014 calendar.

The calendar features old pictures of the town which have been donated to the library over the years.

It is A5 size and is priced at £3.50, plus 60p postage if required.

All funds raised from the sale of the calendars will go towards the restoration of the facility’s Epworth Bells archive, which dates back to the first issue in 1872.

Secretary Christine Pledger said: “The Epworth Bells collection is just one resource that the Mechanics’ Institute Library holds in their local history archive. This archive is available to the whole community and membership is available at £1 per year. The institute also provides a lending library which currently holds around 12,000 books.

“North Lincolnshire Council provided us with a grant last year which has been used to restore and bind editions of the Epworth Bells up to 2003. A further £4,000 is needed to bind and restore editions 2004 to 2013.”
