A musical journey through blues, indie, acoustic, Irish music and much more has continued today with the third annual Mapfest.

The Music and People Festival continues to be the premier urban event for music and the spoken word in Doncaster.

The festival started last night and continued this afternoon with more than 20 venues hosting 160 acts including Cask Corner, Doncaster Little Theatre, Manana Manana, the Woolpack Live, Social, Doncaster Brewery and Tap, Masons Arms, The White Swan, Market Place Alehouse and Deli, JD Wetherspoon’s Gate House, Hallcross, Horse & Groom, The Reunions Cocktail Bar, Baileys, Diamond Live Lounge, Urban Bar and Lounge, Vintage Rock Bar, The Leopard, The Staff of Life and The Yorkshire Pie House.

There are still dozens of acts still set to perform across the town tonight.

The good news is that this year’s concerts, just like last year’s, are all free.

Jim Downie, of Stainforth Road, Barnby Dun, said he has been enjoying some of the music on offer at The Hall Cross this afternoon.

The 52-year-old added: “We like to watch live music, and think it’s important to support events like this in the town.”
