The dreams of three Doncaster dancers look set to come true after they were chosen to appear in an England Youth Ballet production of The Nutcracker.

Sisters Amy Jones, aged 10, and Lucy Jones, 12, along with Lucy McMahon, 15, had to beat competition from more than 250 other youngsters at an audition to win their roles in the production, which visits the Theatre Royal in Nottingham from July 25 to 26.

Lucy Jones, of Balby, has been given the role of Snowflake, while sister Amy will play a Chinese dancer.

Scawsby dancer Lucy McMahon has won the role of Madam Bonbon.

British principal artist, Oliver Speers, said the Doncaster dancers ‘have good technique and great energy’.
