Bus service changes in Doncaster and South Yorkshire

First Bus Service.

First Bus Service.

On Sunday and Monday, April 27 and 28, there will be changes to some bus services in Doncaster and across South Yorkshire.

Passengers are being advised to check as soon as possible to see if their service has been affected.

Information about these service changes and new timetables can be found on the Travel South Yorkshire website travelsouthyorkshire.com; in Travel South Yorkshire information centres and interchanges; or by calling Traveline on 01709 51 51 51.

Bus services with minor timetable changes in Doncaster to improve punctuality and reliability include First services 14, 16, 50/A, 55/B, 58, 65, 66, 71, 72, 73, 87, 91, 638 and X91; and Stagecoach service 22.

First service 16 will see a reduction in the journey time between The Broadway and Warde Avenue, and journeys after 1800 on service 58 will be replaced by journeys on service 55B. Service 71 will be re-routed to operate between Doncaster and Hexthorpe only; service 72 and 73 will be re-routed in Balby to serve Weston Road and Dryden Road; and the 2209 Moorends to Doncaster journey on service 87 will be diverted to operate via Mount Pleasant to serve The Range.

The express peak-hour weekday 638 bus service in Doncaster, which runs between Doncaster Town Centre and the two Park and Ride sites at Woodlands and Parrots Corner, will also be withdrawn on April 26 following Government cuts to South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive’s budget, which previously subsidised the service.

Both the North and South Doncaster Park & Ride sites will remain open. Service 50/50A will run from Doncaster North Park and Ride and service 55 from Doncaster South Park and Ride. Both services operate every ten minutes and will pick up at the same place within the Park and Ride sites that the 638 did for the same £2 fare as the outgoing 638 service.

The majority of bus timetable changes take place three times a year. Bus users can keep up to date by registering for a free timetable alert service on the Travel South Yorkshire website, which automatically sends an email when there is a change to their regular service.
