TICKHILL-born Adam Tamanis has become the Knights’ first summer signing as Brett Davey begins his preparations for next season, writes Liam Hoden.
Knights have also secured the services of highly-rated prop Tomas Francis.
But the Free Press understands Davey looks set to lose Alex Brown to an Aviva Premiership outfit, believed to be Exeter Chiefs.
It is understood prop forward Brown has already agreed a move to the top flight and will depart once the season ends on April 21.
His place will be filled by 19-year-old loose head Tamanis who has made the step up from amateur rugby with Doncaster Phoenix.
Tamanis follows in the footsteps of fellow props Tom Davies, Lewis Thiede and Michael Cusack in progressing through the junior section to the first team squad.
He has recently trained with the first team and has represented Yorkshire at Under 20 level along with Tomas Francis who has been on a development contract at Castle Park since January.
Francis has joined Tamanis in signing full terms to remain with the Knights following impressive performances in four appearances since his switch from Malton and Norton.
The massive 19-year-old prop particularly impressed in his two starts against London Welsh where he demonstrated his power and strength.
Davey was delighted at the two signings as he looks to build for the future.
He said: “Both players have tremendous potential and the fact that they are both local lads is very encouraging.
“I am looking to lads in the Yorkshire region for the future of this club and these two are prime examples and represent the start of our ambitions.”
