SINCE losing to unbeaten Yorkshire Three leaders Wath-upon-Dearne in their first match of 2011, Thornensians have never looked back and added their third consecutive victory last weekend.
Thorne produced an impressive 37-5 triumph at Otliensians, picking up an important bonus point with their six try haul.
Most pleasing was the introduction of three players making their league debut who all came through with flying colours.
Scott Campbell, Gareth Stent and Dean Martindale all took their Thorne bow.
Thorne found themselves bogged down by the heavy Otley forwards in the first half.
But they managed to carry a lead into the break thanks to a Brett Hunt try converted by Olly Cox.
Otley pulled their only score of the match back through skipper Robert Arbuckle to ensure a 7-5 half time scoreline.
Unfortunately debutant Campbell suffered a neck and back injury and was taken by ambulance to hospital for a check up.
The second half saw Thorne move the ball around well and surged on to victory.
Hunt added his second try of the match while other winger Gareth Sutton also touched down twice.
Martindale also got in on the scoring action on his First XV debut while flanker Rob Russell rounded off the scoring.
None of the five second half tries were converted with Russell given the difficult task of three kicks from the touchline.
Thornensians welcome Old Modernians at home next Saturday with a 2.15pm kick off.
The club have been awarded the hosting of a prestigious Yorkshire U15 game against Cardiff Schools on Sunday February 20 at 2pm.
Supporters are welcome at the club on Friday night for the start of the Six Nations when England take on Wales in a 7.45pm kick off. Free food will be available.
