Ifwecan appears to have been done a favour by the handicapper and has a favourable draw ahead of the Chemique Adhesives Handicap at Wolverhampton.

Kept typically busy like many at Mark Johnston’s Kinglsey House Stables, he will have been scratching the door down at home to get back out after a yawning 19-day break.

This will be his 11th start of the campaign and since a five-length win at Musselburgh in June, for which he was pummelled with a 10lb rise, he has been mixing it in some fairly exalted compamy.

His best effort arguably came at Sandown when he attempted to make all at a ferocious gallop and only Luca Cumani’s Velox could catch him.

Given Velox nearly won the Cambridgeshire off a 9lb higher perch, it shows how well handicapped he was that day in early July.

The handicapper saw fit to give Ifwecan another 2lb, and he proved he could still be competitive off that mark, when going close at Goodwood but he has struggled a little since over a mile.

The drop down to seven furlongs and the fact he is in stall two should be in his favour as he can bounce out and force a strong pace.

Now a 1lb lower than for his Sandown run, he might just take some pegging back.

Silver Rainbow looks interesting in the A-Plant Maiden Auction Stakes.

Having made her debut for Barry Hills, she is now in the care of his son Charlie. A daughter of Starspangledbanner, who has enjoyed a fruitful season with his limited crop as a sire, she looked a little bit clueless on leaving the stalls.

She then made eyecatching headway through the middle of the race before possibly the lack of a run and previous experience took their toll and she faded into fifth.

The winner of the race, Local Time, has since won the Oh So Sharp Stakes so it was an above average maiden and the second and fourth have come out and won since.

Andrew Balding’s Stybba has shown that she can handle hock-deep ground and that has to be a big plus ahead of the Platinum Lace Handicap at Brighton.
