Line Of Reason may not be the most original choice in the British Stallion Studs Eddie And Violet Smith EBF Conditions Stakes at Beverley, but it will be a huge surprise if he is beaten here.

Paul Midgley’s five-year-old has upwards of 9lb in hand of each of his rivals and although he carries top weight, the conditions of the race mean he is at least 2lb well in with every runner.

Line Of Reason posted a career-best effort when landing a Cork Listed event back in June and has been highly tried since then, finishing a creditable fourth to Muthmir in Group Two company at Goodwood before finding Group One level beyond him in the Nunthorpe at York.

Midgley duly lowered his sights for a Listed heat on the Westwood last month but he was unlucky to bump into Group One winner Maarek, to whom he had to give weight away.

His trip to Ireland last weekend for the Flying Five yielded little joy but he was certainly not disgraced in seventh and appears incapable of turning in a bad effort in the right company. Another good run is anticipated.

All eyes will be on Victoria Pendleton and Royal Etiquette in the Betfair Supports Amateur Riders’ Handicap but preference is for Stags Leap, while Tafteesh can improve on his debut third in the opening YorkshireRacingBusiness.Media ebfstallions.com Maiden Stakes.

Wavelet is clearly a late-developing type but she looks an animal full of potential in the 32Red Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton.

Hailing from the family of Ramruma, Wavelet made her debut over 12 furlongs, suggesting that she has plenty of stamina to draw upon in coming outings.

She caught the eye when staying on for second that day and should improve on that.

Fly is worth supporting in the 32Red.com Fillies’ Handicap following an impressive debut victory.

A half-sister to Group One winner Seal Of Approval, Fly overcome a tardy start at Lingfield to cut a swathe through the field and eventually triumph by a neck.
