DONCASTER Town’s youngsters were in red hot form as they cruised through to finals days of the ECB Under 13s National Cup with victory over Beverley.
While the club’s first team lost out to Hull in their T20 clash there were no such worries for Doncaster’s juniors who never looked in any danger at a sunny Town Fields.
Captain Charlie Allen led by example with the bat and made 33 before retiring as Town reached 144-3 from their 20 overs.
Kathryn Hilditch supported Allen from the outset and retired on 32, while Joseph Colley also made an unbeaten 30 in Doncaster’s highest total of the season to date.
Adam Hawskhead (15) and Tom Bradley (10) combined in a late flurry to leave Beverley with a tough task.
In reply, Town’s opening bowlers struck early.
Allen pouched a superb slip catch off Jack Brown before spinner Ross Green claimed 2-7 from three overs.
Town eventually ran out winners by 36 runs and now go through to finals day to be held at Mirfield Cricket Club on Sunday.
