Great catch as angling event raises £2,800 for charity

SATURDAY saw the second match this year for Scunthorpe Hospital Breast Cancer at Garbolino Lindholme, and the weather did not dampen the spirits for this increasingly popular match.

Spokesman Neil Grantham said: “The turnout was excellent on a miserable day and saw over £2,800 raised again on the day, making the total raised to around the £60,000 mark so far for this worthy cause.

“The match is already arranged for next year at Garbolino Lindholme and we will hopefully get to the £70,000, which is a credible amount for the hard work Mr and Mrs Allen who organise this match have their sights on.”

Matt Pilley from Grimsby, who is a fully sponsored match man with Maver UK, won the overhaul first place with an Ultimate Barnsley sponsored fisherman coming second. Neil thanked the professional anglers that take part, giving their time and money and help to promote this worthy cause.
