Alex Gosney has been re-appointed Doncaster Town’s first team captain for 2014.

Gosney, 24, guided Town to their best season since 2008 this year.

Doncaster finished fifth in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League, reached the last 16 of the ECB National Cup and finished runners up of the Yorkshire League T20 Cup.

Rhys Mann will also continue to captain the club’s second XI in next year’s South Yorkshire League Division Two after being re-elected at Friday’s AGM.

In her secretary’s report for the year Hannah Cox said the club’s successful season, which included their new Academy side winning Division Three of the South Yorkshire Alliance League, was proof that the Bennetthorpe outfit are moving in the right direction.

She added: “The junior section has had another excellent year with numbers continuing to increase.

“The club again passed its Clubmark audit. This is a great credit to the whole club.

“In September we were also picked to have a Clubmark External Verification and the Sport England representative was extremely impressed with the organisation of the club along with the way in which the club works to integrate juniors into senior cricket.”
