Brothers Darren and Graham Clark helped Luddington’s first team put themselves right in the thick of the promotion race.

The Isle side defeated Barton Academy Vikings by 53 runs in the Amazing Smile North Lindsey League Division Two clash, with the Clark brothers picking up a trio of wickets each.

Luddington took to the crease first and began well, although the Vikings did keep nipping out the odd wicket to keep themselves in the hunt.

Geoff Smith was first to go - caught by visiting skipper Andy Genney off Liam Parker for two. The visiting skipper went on to claim three catches and a stumping throughout the innings with a spirited display behind the stumps.

Joe Woolhouse made a quick-fire 11 before picking out George Phillips in the deep to give Jack Waller his first wicket of the day which brought the Clark brothers together in the middle.

They were looking to be in good form when Darren received a low delivery which saw him bowled for 42.

As further wickets fell - Graham Clark claiming 33 - Luddington were eventually all out total at 168.

The Vikings made a poor start to their reply when Matt Waller was well caught by Andy Lawson off Graham Clark’s opening delivery.

Barton struggled towards a total of 115 all out - Graham Clark finishing with top bowling figures of 3-36 as sibling Darren (pictured inset) claimed 3-27.

The win saw Luddington move to within a point of leaders Crowle Outcasts and Alkborough at the top of the table.

And with two games remaining, one of which is against Alkborough, Luddington are right in the mix for a top two finish.
